This is one of those metaphors

Plan long term, even if it means that you may work for something which you won’t be able to enjoy. Once we get over our obsession with the organism and start to think about the species, things are going to start going a lot better. I’ve heard this attributed to both Chinese and Greek ancients, though they usually express it with a little less brevity.

In other news, I recently ran into a friend for the first time in a few years and he mentioned enjoying the blog each week. So hello to my bow tie wearing friend.
