You’re not paranoid, you’re just misreading motivations.

I saw this on LifeHacker a while back and it’s a pretty important thing to keep in mind. Sure, people will take actions against you but only if it benefits them. They do good things for you for the same reason. Just remember when someone is harming you, it’s more likely that they’re selfish than malicious. And keep in mind, when acting for yourself, that people will think that you’re out to get them. If you’re in any kind of authority position, there is at least one person who thinks that you go home and plot against them.
